Iode 7 Camera on Pixel 9pro xl?

Hello all, I have tried searching for answers but coming to a dead end on this one. I have a new install (user and software) on a Pixel 9 pro xl, when I go to use the camera it ONLY will allow the “selfie” camera for function. I had it happen on starting with 6.9 and still on a full wipe and fresh install of 7 this morning. I have seen some talk about different camera apps, I have now tried 3 of them through both Fdroid and aurora at this point. All do the same thing, just the selfie. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!!

Hi. Did you try to reverse back to original Google FW and tried the functionality of your camera (to be clear that there is no HW issue with it)?

I honestly got it out the box, plugged in and put iode into it. I did not even do anything besides power up and hook it up on googles os. It is a fresh refurb though. Id hate to revert it back as the iode installer for me takes FOREVER for some reason.
When camera is opened it goes directly to selfie, and when you hit the swap or flip for other camera just comes back to the same camera. No warnings, no flags nothing why I was hoping it was SW issue not hw. Especially after seeing other camera issues noted.

Well, because I am just an ordinary user (not IT specialist), I usually try to do the first logical think to solve any phone SW issue - to be sure that the HW is functional. I know the pain of reflashing Pixel there and back between originalOS and custom ROM. So hope you find easier solution to know if the HW is not defective. May be try to install Device Info app from F-Droid to find information about your camera HW?

When I got my (brand new) smartphone and flashed it with the help of community, they advised me to check the camera, microphone, buttons etc. on stock ROM first so that in case of a defect I could make use of the manufacturer’s warranty before voiding the warranty by flashing the phone.

If I would buy me a refurbished phone, I would strongly recommend to test the hardware before proceeding to software modifications.

It could well be that the refurbisher just took a selfie to test the camera and did not notice the problem - at least that is how I imagine refurbishing, being a lay …

I understand that you are very happy that you got the flashing done, but I would second gc35sdd’s recommendation to go back to the original ROM to test the hardware. If the problem does not occur on stock ROM, you will be able to file an issue on git lab (or aks a mod here to do it for you).

As suggested by others, I think you will need to check the hardware by flashing stock from flash.android.com then confirming the camera functionality. Keep us updated!

Ugh, yes the stock rom does the same sadly. Going back to stock shows the same. Silly me thinking a “fully tested unit” was going to be fully functional. running it though the google system updates now to see if there may be any change, but already opened a warranty ticket on the device sadly.

Sorry for the bad news (hassle is costly, often more than money :frowning: ), hopefully they treat you well in the exchange.

I was kinda hoping I was just dumb in being rusty with all of this and that it was only software. Well, I have a pixel 7 to play with in the meantime until I get my 9 xl back. Gives me time to play with the other ways to load it instead of the auto loader at least.

I appreciate everyone’s time on this, and apologies on the rusty noob like issues haha.
