Interesting article on Practical Payment Solutions for Murena and /e/OS (and IodéOS) Users

Blog post by Gaël Duval about alternative to Google Pay

(also at https://gael-duval.medium.com/ce8406965c20)

The alternative he talks about is Curve, and it should work just as well with IodéOS - and Iodé Blocker dealing with the privacy issues - as he says it does with /e/OS and their ‘Advanced Privacy’. You get a card (for use in ATMs) as well as an Android (or iOS) app for NFC payments

I also saw this article, seems like a path to consider.

I decided it is time to start experimenting with ‘payment by phone’. I’ve installed Curve (from Aurora Store) and added one of my debit cards. Now let’s see if it works :slightly_smiling_face:

You need to provide your ID Card, Personnal Adress, Birth date, FirstName & LastName.

Still too much data for me.

That’s information I would expect to give to any payment provider or organistaion providing financial services. My banks have it.

And for me and my data - resident in UK - Curve are subject to regulation about what they do with that data: see their (very detailed) privacy policy

Curve works fine for me!
Just unfortunate one cannot add Visa cards as a EU citizen…

The debit card I added is Visa (as are pretty much all the cards I own) and I could add it with no problem. Is this the only positive effect of Brexit?

Cool, I always wondered if there are some benefits!

Used it to pay for a couple of things in a shop today, with no problems.

I don’t want to pay with my smartphone (cash preferred), but I have read about the successful usage of Curve and iodéOS on a German forum past November. Keep in mind that with Curve, there is one more intermediary party in this processing your data …

What about Revolute Pay? Anybody has any experience with it? It is implemented into the Revolut itself. But I never used it, so no direct experience on my side.
