How to fix screensettings on Brax3?

Hello,

Started my Brax3 and iodé journey two days ago coming from a IPhone 8

Having the phone basic setup done and happy with it…

I started to dive into the settings, and made a extra “mode” to receive only messages and calls from my family and best friends. There was also a option for black and white and another setting to make it less bright. Just trying things out so activated this and the screen went all dark, a bit greyish not black. It does light up a little bit, so the phone is not stuck when opening the phone with the fingerprint but i can’t see anything on the screen.

Holding the on off button does restart the Phone with a bright white “brax” and bright “iode” but thats it…i can see the screen going from black to greyish but nothing is visible.. ahhhh

i can’t see anything on the screen so can’t change the settings

The sim is back in the Iphone

This morning the alarm clock on the Brax3 woke me up, so the phone does still work…

My settings for the alarm: The shake for snooze and turn around for the alarm to end also still work…

Is there a solution?

Without a hard reset?

I am new at iodéOS…

So what you mean is the custom mode that darkened and de-colorized the screen is always active so you can’t see it well? If you go in a dark room is it light enough to see? Maybe you can swipe down (2 x) to see the display brightness slider and increase that, then go into “modes” and turn off that custom mode, or instead in System Settings go direct to “Display” and adjust the values there.

Thanks for your response!

Ater unlocking the phone with the fingerprint button on the side this is the screen i get; foto taken in a dark room without flash.

I’ve tried the swipe down twice and several swipes from left to right on the top of the screen but no luck sofar

The alarm clock every morning is the only sign the Brax3 is still working…

Is it possible to connect it to a computer and adjust the screensettings?

I can’t sort out how you got here, I hope it isn’t a hardware issue, but as the brax and iodé splash screens appear I don’t think it is that?

Sorry, but I don’t have a better suggestion than applying a factory reset (but you will need to re-do apps etc):

  • Hold the Volume UP arrow while booting (so will need to force off first with long press (many seconds) of power button.
  • You will then see a tiny menu. Press Volume UP to toggle the menu, using Volume DOWN when on Recovery.
  • Inside recovery, choose Factory reset

If you are glutton for punishment and want to really sort out how you got to where you are, try and re-create the issue, maybe we will learn something (but I don’t know if you will want to suffer through the testing of this again  )

Just turned off the phone and starting it again the Brax and iodé splash still appear, so the screen should be working…

I don’t know how I got in this mess but when I get the Brax3 working again I will try to recreate it before I put everything back on:

Contacts, Signal, Telegram, mailaccounts

I was hoping a factory reset could be avoided.

Not knowing what I am getting into…:face_with_peeking_eye:

Will the app stores still be on the phone?

The internet browser and mail are included in the iodéOS?

All the apps that were on the phone when I got it are all iodéOS or did Brax include some as well?

I read something about Wifi issues after a reset?

FWIW the brightness slider is about 1" / 25-30mm from the top of the screen - you could just try swiping right from the very left most edge (about 5mm in) to see if it triggers.

You need to swipe down twice from the top as @rik mentioned (about half the length or the screen) band then even if you can’t ‘see’ it, it should be there in the darkness…

I have found the brightness slider

Great work - Well done!
:slightly_smiling_face:

Unfortunately that looks suspiciously like a cooked screen!

I think you need to try and do the factory reset and if that fails log it with BraxTech Support as a hardware fault… and get a replacement handset…

Holding the power button till the screen goes black gets the Brax to restart

Looks like the screen is okay..

Might be bricked then - corrupted OS - assume you can’t get the factory reset to initialise/start up?

I’ve been delaying the factory reset… hoping it could be resolved without..

Just performed the steps given by Rik

Did the format data/factory reset twice… before i found the way out on the top left off the screen

Brax3 is Back!! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

WiFi works, just installed the Brave App.

Thanks for your support guys!!! :+1:

Nice work!

Rather bizarre experience for you…

P.S. Check out my post here - might have some useful information depending on how much research you have done (as I am moving over from Apple myself):

Glad to see you are back up and running. Still find this one a bit baffling how you got in that situation, but wishing you good luck going forward

Thanks Rik,

Your instruction for the factory reset got me out off it :folded_hands: :+1:

Now working out what Apps to use / not to use

With Proton VPN and Brave browser i can tackle a lot without the need of an app..

As mentioned before, still in iodeOS diapers :baby:

Ps

I will be staying far away from modi and screensettings :scream:
