Hard bricked Pixel 6 - EDL mode

Dears,

I just wanted to let you know that I used your automated tool to install IodéOS on my Pixel 6 and that it HARD bricked it. After trying to install the OS, I got a « corrupt device » message. It then booted twice (fastboot loop, I guess) and then went black… From my understanding, this means I am now stuck in EDL mode and there is no way (that I know of) to awaken my device again and to perform the install. Of course, I tried every key combo I found on the internet. I also held the 3 of them pressed down for as long as 3 minutes (then I got cramps in my forearms, lol). The screen remains black and there is nothing I can do. The device is still detected as a USB Serial device (COM3) when I hold the start button with it attached to a Windows 11 PC. But this is sadly its unique sign of life…

I was easily able 2 years ago to successfully flash my Pixel 6 with GrapheneOS. After recently listening to Rob Braxman (great guy) talking about you I wanted to give a try to your OS. This seems to be an awesome project (moreover I’m a native Frenchspeaker) so I wanted to take part to the adventure. I know that the risks of the installation are to be bore only by the phone owner but I’m now stuck with an unusable phone which had been working very well so far…

Is there maybe, to your knowledge, a way to recover my phone ? Of course, except sending it back to awful squidish G**gle… I’ve been reading threads on the internet for the last 2 days (o.a. How To Guide - Guide: Unbrick Pixel 6 Oriele or Pixel 6 Pro "Raven" | XDA Forums ) and there seems to be no solution available to the community to unbrick the phone…

I’ve already ordered a new phone but I’m now hesitating to risk again bricking my phone… This doesn’t mean that I’ll go with an official ROM though, lol.

Any advice from you guys / the community ?

This being said, I still want to thank you for (and I’m admirative of) your involvement with this project helping us protect our privacy in this ever-more-intrusive-digital-world-of-ours.

Take care !

Cheers
Pierrot

Essaye chez google pour reparer.

If it’s still recognised on your PC as an attached device it must still be connected and talking to it. That’s not a ‘hard bricked’ situation from my own experience. I have never been unable to recover a device that registers itself on the PC, so maybe more research into available ‘get arounds’ is required.

I’ve just been doing a little ‘research’ myself and came across this…
Google Issues Warning To Pixel 6 Users Over New Bricking Bug amongst several other reports you might care to search.

It would appear to be a screwgle bug that is causing the problem with many Px6 users complaining of similar symptoms and then bricking after they received an Android 15 upgrade. Apparently there is a big thread on Reddit hoping to thrash out some kind of a fix for it. Schmoogle of course appear to be their usual selves accepting no responsibility. It would appear that Screwgle will only repair devices under warranty arrangements, those out of warranty will have to either finance their own repairs or just ditch the phone.
