I was already using Thunderbird on my desktop, and was pleased to see how easy the transition was. I like the interface even more than desktop. Great choice for the new client!

At the moment it’s the same, because they are built from the same codebase.

But there are changes in K9-Mail which are only there because of it becoming Thunderbird mobile: the developer(s?) of K-9 did not have the resources to make these changes on their own - they are only possible because of the involvement of (takeover by?) the Thinderbird team.

So yes it is a boost to K-9
