Over the past few months I’ve seen this app, George Österreich (Version 26.18.15-google, at.erstebank.george) start crashing. I’m presently running iodé 7.6 on a Pixel 4a (sunfish).
Sometimes completely deleting app data and uninstall the app, followed by new installation and app activation via the bank, restores operation; sometimes not.
The app remains usable as 2FA app for desktop browser access without crashing.
I’ve had that to, but only had to reinstall it once (yet…) luckily.
Would be interesting if theres a way to avoid that?
And hopefully the app stays functional in the future!
Unfortunately now the data wipe/uninstall/reboot/reinstall/reactivate loop isn’t working any more. George always crashes on reaching the Overview page. (Thankfully it still works to sign logins and transfers created using the browser on my regular PC.) This is not limited to iodé, but e/OS/ users are also reporting it, so it’s something at the microG or LineageOS level. (Unfortunately those e/OS/ users are deluded into thinking a banking app’s support department have any interest in supporting de-Googled operating systems. They’re more likely to redouble their efforts to block such operating systems.)
For me, launching the app wasn’t the problem. It was only after signing in, on reaching the account overview page, that the app crashed. It also didn’t crash if I simply needed it to 2FA a desktop browser sign-in. I could overcome the crash usually by deleting data, deleting the app, getting a new access code from Erste, and signing in again. It would work for some time, but then eventually start crashing again for whatever reason.
