Garmin Messenger does not work

When I put my phone number to set up the app Garmin Messenger and click on “next”, it says “a problem occured. Try later. Failure to configurate the Push notifications.” I allowed the notifications but it still does not work. Is it because of other features that I have to modify? Thanks very much

It could be that it will not work without “full Google Play Services”, which iodé intentionally does not include. One more thing you can try is to go into the iodé blocker app (just called “iodé”), and find the Garmin Messenger app and set it to “None”. This would ensure that no network traffic is being blocked. If it then works, you can turn on the blocking again and fine tune what network activity is blocked that you may need to allow so that it will keep working.

If you have not resolved yet, look to see if under Settings - Apps - Garmin Messenger - Permissions that it has access to your phone and SMS info.

Garmin Messenger has the ability to communicate via either SMS or Garmin’s InReach SAT service. It’s sort of an “aggregate” and It tries to determine whether you have SMS or cell service, and if not, then uses the InReach automatically. I have an InReach Mini 2, but I use only the Explorer app alone, so I can keep my comms separated. It requires the same permissions I believe.
