Flashlight feature issue

Device: Devon(Moto G32)

iodeOS Version: 7.4 latest build

Brief Description:

Hello iodeOS Team!

I found a bug regarding flashlight feature;

the bug is when i shake my phone the flashlight lit up(a known feature in Motorola devices) but the flashlight icon in the notification tiles indicate as darken(as in turn-off).

Interestingly, if I try to turn it off from the tiles it has no effect until I shake the phone again then it turned off.

Hope this help and will provide logs if needed.
Thank you in advance

Step-by-step reproduction of the issue:

  1. Shake the phone to turn on the flashlight feature(known feature of Motorola devices)

  2. See the flashlight icon from tiles tap it on or off it has no effect on the flashlight

  3. You’ll notice that the flashlight still on

  4. Then shake the phone again then it will turn off.

  5. After this if you tap the flashlight it will function(on or off) as normal.

Expected behaviour: Should work normally as intended

Actual behaviour: Said issue

This issue would likely be coming directly from LineageOS, if you are willing can you look for an issue for it there that we could link to?

Sadly, as you so rudely discovered, the LineageOS issue tracker maintainers are a bit aggressive in locking posts, etc. Don’t feel you are alone, I have gotten my hand slapped several times too (for attempting to link identical issues between to devices). In a way it is fair, they have a lot more to manage across their development efforts, but it is a bit “off-putting” to well intentioned users / possible contributors :frowning:

Anyway, I think that at least confirms the issue is upstream with them.

On a side note, I have my Pixels set to “long-press power button” to enable / disable the torch (I came from Motos some years back and really missed that feature! At the time there was no LineageOS support for it so I hacked in a background app that was constantly polling for the action, but for obvious reasons that ended up being a bit of a battery drain so had to give it up).

It’s okay maybe it’s just misunderstanding or like you said they got lots on their plate , and yes I’ve contributed to Devon’s bug reports years back where CalyxOS or iódeOS haven’t even build yet for Devon(moto g32) just LineageOS. And I’m greatful for that these projects exist. And thank you too for taking up many of Devon’s issues that I’ve reported :folded_hands:
