Feature Request: Time Option for Limit Charging Control

I’d like to request consideration for adding a time period function for when Limit Charging (below) is active in Charging Control.

It would be extremely useful to be able to optionally set this to only be active at certain times (e.g. in my case 1700 until 0900), and the rest of the time it is disabled/not active, allowing unrestrained charging.

My use case, as an example, is I only want to charge my battery to 80% the majority of the time, especially when charging overnight. But I do want to very occasionally charge it to 100% and also want to charge to 100% if I have very heavy usage on any given day that means I have to charge it additionally to get through the day (typically in the middle of the day, and typically this is on extra-busy work days)… Having this setting would eliminate the need to remember manually disabling and re-enabling charging control at those times.

I also feel this offers a far better, more flexible, way to manage battery life than the alternative standard “be charged to 100% by X time” function; especilly if you rarely want the battery charged to 100%…

I think this level of customizing would be beyond our scope, we inherit features like this from LineageOS. So I expect this would be the best place to look for feedback on if it is an existing request, etc. Here are links to their reddit and issue tracker.

If that becomes available in LineageOS we of course would inherit it downstream.

Thanks @rik will have a look…

Looks like “ be 100% charged by X hour” setting is available but under Custom Schedule.

Settings > Battery > Charging Control > Charging Mode > Custom Schedule

Thanks for sharing BTW, it allowed me to discover the Limit Charging mode. Furthermore, I learned that Google classifies my Pixel 6a’s battery health as “Dead’!

Settings > Battery > Battery Information > Health

Yeah - have looked at that - unfortunately that doesn’t quite do what I want - although it might be a work around (if set to 100% by 9am or something) - but I suspect it’ll just result in the phone not being charged to 80% by the time I normally rise in the morning (before 6am) on a normal day, and will only ever get to 100% if left on charge before (say) 9am until after that time (e.g. non-work days)…?
