Feature Request: Scheduled Restart, Tracker Spoofing, Auto sensors

Suggestions for Future Upgrades

Scheduled Restart
Add an option to automatically restart the phone on a schedule.

Benefits include:

Clearing temporary memory.
Interrupting some malware persistence.
Applying updates that require a reboot.
Returning the device to the more secure Before First Unlock (BFU) state, where user data remains more strongly encrypted than in the After First Unlock (AFU) state.

Tracker Spoofing

iodeOS is well known for its tracker blocking. Adding tracker spoofing would be a natural next step to strengthen privacy. The Fauxx app is a great example, but a native implementation would provide a better user experience.

iode Blocker Improvements

Add an option to permanently exclude selected apps from traffic statistics (instead of only erasing their past history, which later reappears). This would prevent apps like Fauxx from skewing usage statistics. Caution, that could be abused if implemented wrong.

Add a quick shortcut in iode Blocker to the data usage page in Settings or implement that insightful data.

Add more transparency around Anonymous Domains:
Explain what Anonymous Domains are. Allow users to view that domain list. Show which apps are using the anonymous domains. Provide additional information about how the feature works when clicked. Less ambiguity in data and connections.

iode prefers to balance complexity of security with ease of functionality but consider adding some more advanced features in the future. Rethink DNS app has block IP or DNS from unknown sources , unknown apps, and unknown system sources. Good for blocking potential malware or unwanted connections.

Automatic Sensor Management

Add an option to automatically disable sensors when the phone is locked or after a period of inactivity, and automatically activate from preset triggers similar to what Privacy Flip provides.

Automatically close, restrict, or freeze background apps

Prevent selected apps from running in the background by forcing them into restricted background mode or freezing them when the phone is locked or after inactivity. This would help reduce battery drain, data usage, and unnecessary background activity, giving users more control over apps that don’t need to stay active when not in use, similar to the Drowser app.

Release Notes & Beta Testing

Publish beta release notes in a separate area of the News app and on the website to encourage more beta testing.
Consistently publish forum announcements for beta releases. For example, 7.7 did not have a beta announcement.
Update the News page with the release build number (e.g 7.7), not just the publication date, so users don't have to cross-reference it with the updater.

Battery status style
Charging indator is missing from the text icon in the status bar.

Market the benefits over GrapheneOS like more devices supported, and for longer periods for older devices. Built-in blocker, Better suited for root and mods. Less connections to google with microG, etc.

Thats just a few suggestions. Every successful business looks at alternatives on how to improve into the future. Thanks for all the great work put into this OS.

Scheduled restart:
Settings - security and privacy - more security - auto reboot

Thanks! That’s not where I expected it to be. I searched Settings for “Scheduled restart,” “restart,” and similar terms, but nothing came up. I didn’t think to search for “Auto reboot.”

Samsung’s approach lets you schedule restarts on specific days and times or automatically reboot when needed for performance or updates, which some users may prefer. That said, iodeOS rebooting after an hour or longer of inactivity is a more security-focused approach, and I’m glad to have that option.

Many very good suggestions, however it is a bit tricky to discuss specifically in on big “mega thread”. Instead can you split up the post into separate posts / feature requests?

Several are very good suggestions that need more visibility to get broader feedback to evaluate, others may already be possible with 3rd party apps (Shelter for “freeze” on inactivity for example) but could be considered for default conclusion, others may just be a hidden configuration / settings change or clarification (as the auto reboot one).

Some would come from the LineageOS level updates, others from us specifically, etc.

Thanks again for taking the time to give feedback.
