Fairphone 5 with Iode - Locked Bootloader Help?

Hello,

If anyone here has a Fairphone 5 using some version of Iode I just wondered if you could help with some things:

  • Can you run Iode with a locked bootloader?
  • With the bootloader locked, do you get a “yellow” warning about a custom operating system?

Context: I have a Murena Fairphone 5. Very dissatisfied with /e/ (Fairphone 5 version at least) so plan to try Iode. I am waiting for next release (rollback protection, cba with beta).

When flashing “avb_custom_key” I do get some kind of warning from fastboot.

Hi,
Did you try to install IodéOS 5 with the self installer?
Don’t forget to lock the bootloader after install to avoid a bootloop

I did but my phone just bricked, not sure if its because avb_custom_key flashing failed or because of security rollback protection. Currently waiting for Iode 6 to have another go.

@rlees85 I’d try returning to stock before trying again, some issues might result from going straight from /e/OS to iodéOS

Thank you, yes for sure. I did that last time, went to FPOS Android 14 first. The security patch date is 4 days newer than Iode 5.8 however.

IodeOS 6 beta is there:

Thanks, sadly thats just an OTA, I need a fastboot release. I will wait until 6 goes live. No experience with Iode, hopefully not too long between beta and release.

edit: I installed 5.8 stable using Fastboot, but commented out the bootloader locking. Then I installed the 6.0 beta OTA using recovery. At this point I locked the bootloader.

Seems to be working very nicely! I am sure someone will be along to tell me what I did wasn’t supported

I already had this problem with a fairphone 3 (bootloop).
It seems that iodeOS doesn’t want the bootloader to be unlocked.
