Fairphone 5 and 7.2 - WiFi issues

Firstly, I’ve been using iodeOS for some time now and am both very happy and very impressed with it. However, the most recent update, 7.2, seems to have brought some intermittent issues with the WiFi.

I am using a Fairphone 5 in the UK with a physical SIM. Up until 7.1 my WiFi has been stable and reliable at all times.
Since changing to 7.2, I’m now noticing that periodically the WiFi seems to get ‘stuck’. It remains connected to my home network, but no actual data traffic - in or out - is taking place.

For technical clarity, this is a direct connection on Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac). There are no custom DNS settings or other changes in the phone.

I’ve found at least one of the following tweaks seems to kick everything back in again:

  1. Open the iode blocking app and turn it off then on again. If that doesn’t work, then
  2. Turning off the main WiFi on the phone then on again. If that doesn’t work, then
  3. Restarting the whole phone. This always works

It’s not my home network as this FP5 is the only device suffering these outages, and it only started with 7.2.

Has anybody else had similar issues, or know of a more stable, permanent fix?

Could you try to “App Info > Storage & cache > Clear Storage” for the iodé app?

hey community

after the iodé update 7.2 i cannot connect to wifi, it connects rarely to wifi then it works for some time before it disconnect again. the most time it just doesn’t connect to wifi, says connection issues… tried to reset wifi and bluetooth without any change it seems.

looking forward to ideas.

thank you

Thanks for posting, sorry to see you are having issues. Did you go from 7.1 to 7.2 or from 6.x to 7.2? (trying to understand if it is an issue between 6.x and 7.x or just the minor update to 7.2)

Hi,

I have similar issues with FP5 and 7.2.

My device has randomly no connection on Wifi and also LTE. It comes back if I disable/enable iodé blocker.

I initially flashed 7.0 and OTA upgraded to 7.1 and then 7.2.

Had same issue with 7.0, 7.1 fixed it and now its back with 7.2.

Thanks for the replies.

I think I did go from 6.9 to 7.2.

Well not sure about it, maybe it could be fixed for some reason, since today it connects automatically to wifi and I have connection. No issue so far today

@layer3 and @lubenja this seems to match this issue: Fairphone 5 and 7.2 - WiFi issues - #2 by rik. I am going to merge them if that is OK.

See above to my suggestion to “Clear Storage” for the iodé app, and then lets follow from here on if that helps or not.

I am having similar issues on my moto G52, with wifi and 4g, on 3g it works as expected. Just cleared the storage of iodé app as suggested above.:crossed_fingers:
