Would be nice if you could start a topic by writing what it is about. No question to the community? Just a link?
There is no question, if there was a question I wouldn’t have placed it in General Discussion. The board’s description of the ‘General Discussion’ section is ‘You will find here broad discussions about iodé without specific guidelines’. If the EU and it’s future policy towards FOSS is not of interest to you, even if it could have serious ramifications for iode and other privacy focussed OS’s, then just don’t read it. Ignore it. It’s fine with me!
I still think it would be nice if a new topic was introduced with a few sentences.
I find it difficult to participate in a conversation that only starts with a link and no introduction to the topic.
Without that, it’s not so easy to see what your point is here.
I also find it difficult to expect potential participants in a conversation to read through another thread first just to understand what this topic here is about.
A few introductory sentences would be really helpful.
I just wanted to bring it to iode user’s attention that’s all. Main stream media seems to be very quiet on all this back office policy making, particularly so of late with all the political tension we are seeing here in the west. If it sparks a discussion then so be it but for us as user’s, it is very difficult to do much anything without the stake holder’s getting behind it too. Maybe they are or maybe they are just waiting to see what the final proposals are before deciding on a plan of action. I dunno
I agree, this is a dangerous trend.
After being notified of your reply I came back to read it and found that the mod’s have moved the thread to the ‘Uncategorised’ section! So maybe you were correct after all. Don’t get me wrong the forum is stacks better since it received a makeover and we can only thank the webmaster for that but I dunno… I just can’t seem to get the right peg in the right hole cos I was going for ‘Uncategorised’ and then decided ‘General Discussion’ might be more appropriate.
@Russian_Spy_Bear I for one appreciate the fact that you posted a link, that didn’t require commentary. And I agree with you… if some user doesn’t like it, they should just bypass and go on. Better yet, if those users wish to have certain “rules” applied, maybe they should go start their own forums, communities, or whatever.
So thank you for the link! You did nothing wrong.
