I use EasyPark - a parking app to pay for car parking.
When app is first run you have to declare mobile phone nr to get a code.
I never receive the code.
EasyPark is listed as compatible app. Anyone has some advice or experience to share?
I’m afraid that the app is not allowed to send the request for the activation code via sms out. Is there a way to allow outgoing traffic?
put blocking to None and phone permissions on.
Anything else?
My device is Motorola G52
The app works fine with CalyxOS on a G52, installed and activated back some years ago.
When I tried to get the app through the mobile phone nr registration on another fresh installed device I ran into the problem.
The workaround was to make a backup via seedvault and restore to the second device. The first is all in english, the second should have been italian. I think most of the apps just won’t switch to italian.
With this restore workaround I got the app working but in english. Obviously I can’t reinstall as the mobile phone nr registration kicks in and does not complete.
I raised a bug for CalyxOS and after some effort there was no solution. I will try to find the bug to post here.
I have tried back then to install some older versions but to no avail. I tried that again with three versions but the problem remains the same, either the app is too old or the requesr for activation code is not sent with err msg or just nothing happens.
You have SMS permissions on too? For apps like Whatsapp I find that it needs a lot more permissions than you think it may in order to send out the SMS registration confirmation notification. I give it all the permissions, then once registered I again restrict it.
Excellent point, rik.
I find sms authorizations with sms app and phone app authorized and “no authorizatuons request negated to any app” - so looks like easypark should be able to send sms.
What do I look for?
Do you find the SMS permission option in the EasyPark app itself? For WhatsApp, for example, it is in the WhatsApp permissions (not the Messaging app or Phone app) where I needed to add SMS (and the other) permissions.
No, there is bo such permission or setting in the app. And without managing the hurdle of the initial sms setup/confirmation I would not get into settings.
I thought of using a googled phone to make the request but enter the code I would hopefully get into the iodeos phone … ?
Hi rik,
Yes, this I what I did and I confirm that there is no such permission. I doubt that the app send the request out via sms, but would have to read sms app.
Technically, it works the same way as WhatsApp. The app sends the request over the internet, and an SMS is received. No SMS goes out, only in. Enter a mobile number (any other)and check if it arrives. Then you’ll know whether receiving fails or sending fails. If sending fails, it’s due to the missing Google Services check…
Hi AlphaElwedritsch, thanks for chiming in.
Is there a setup in MicroG then that I have to set in order to make it work?
The app is listed as working…
Thanks for your help
