I have been using DAVx5 for years to synchronize my calendar and contacts with my own Nextcloud instance. A few weeks ago, I noticed that the contacts and calendar entries on my Fairphone 4 were not synchronizing. I assume that the problem existed for some time, but I didn’t notice it. I use iodé V6.10 on my Fairphone 4 and, for the past few days, iodé V6.11. I don’t have this problem on my wife’s Samsung Galaxy S23 (with original Android).
Edit: When I start DAV5x and initiate synchronization manually, the data gets updated without any problems!
Could it be that the service (DAVx5) is not starting when iodé is restarted?
Any ideas about which settings I should check?
I know that by default the Davx5 sync frequency is only every 240 minutes, I always set that to be a bit more frequent so that when family members create calendar entries I need to be aware of I don’t miss them
I haven’t noticed a change recently, so am assuming it is working, but hmm maybe I better review a bit in the next few days so I can have a good start to the new year not missing any events
Regarding it “not starting” when rebooting, if you go into “App Info” after a reboot you should be able to tell if it is running or not (if you see “Force Stop” then it is running). Maybe your install of it had “Allow background usage” turned off under “App battery usage”, or the “Manage app if unused” enabled. You can check those through “App Info” as well.
Everything seems to be working as desired at the moment. I manually synchronized everything again in DAVx5 a few days ago. Even after restarting iodé, entries in the calendar were synchronized correctly.
Last night, I had flight mode enabled on my phone for an extended period of time. This morning, DAVx5 displayed the IO error messages. After deactivating airplane mode, the errors disappeared immediately. The IO messages are always displayed when no connection to the nextcloud server can be established.
As I often activate flight mode on my mobile phone at night, I now notice that these error messages were not displayed in the last few weeks when DAVx5 was not working.
I will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates.
Hi. I am aslo using DAVx5 for sync with my NextCloud server - calendar and contacts. And sometimes, for hours and in one instance 3 days, the synchronization was not working. Randomly. After contacting NextCloud support, I have been told that servers were in maintenance mode… This is a reason I am starting to think about buildind and running my own NAS with NextCloud SW on it. Usually the NUC PC should be good for such a use case scenario…
