Hello!
Is there a way, for example an app, to transfer data and apps between two OnePlus devices? Both are running Iode OS 7.6. The original OnePlus “Clone Phone” app doesn’t work. Only data can be transferred using an external USB drive.
DAVx5
Thunderbird
Beeper
Element
Signal
Firefox / iode-Browser
AntennaPod
Tailscale
Google Voice
WhatsApp
(above from DeepL, original below)
The nice thing for you, @Klaus is that it is between 2 devices, so you have the other one around to get things that may have been missed by Seedvault. Here is my current list consolidated from some others on the apps that Seedvault can’t backup / restore and that need backup / restore from within those apps themselves:
DAVx5
Thunderbird
Beeper
Element
Signal
Firefox / iode browser
AntennaPod
Tailscale
Google Voice
WhatsApp
It may be good for me to start a wiki to these I’ll add Threema (thanks @MissPiggy) but again Klaus, if you can report back what else may be missed we can add that to the list too.
How and where can I select individual apps for backup? I only see a general preset.
Also, the OnePlus 13 is a Chinese version with a flashed Android 7.6 ROM from roms.danielrichter.at, because that’s the only way I can make calls.
Furthermore, I’m unsure about the Anti-Rollback (ARB) setting of 1, as the OnePlus 11 5G originally had ARB = 0. I need more information and will take my time.
I believe it backs up all the apps, but then on restore you can select which ones to restore. At least this is my memory?
Regarding triggering ARB, the risk is that you have a newer Vendor Security Patch Level, but the iodéOS official builds are ARB = 1 (which won’t be an issue if the device is currently ARB = 0, what you are concerned about is rolling back, so if you have ARB = 1 then roll back to ARB = 0, that will brick it.
BTW Do you really mean you have an Android 7.6 build? That can’t be it is from many years ago. Or do you mean an iodéOS 7.6 build but not our official build?
FYI, I met over the interwebs the developer of otaripper which you can use to check the ARB level of a installation .zip before installing. Here is my note on how to use it in this case:
Yes, Seedvault will backup ALL apps (that will allow backups) and when you do the restoration on the other phone, you can choose which apps you want to restore.
