Since iodé 5 the spell check on my Fairphone 3 is a mess. I’m not able to get it right. Can anybody with a working German spell check share his adjustments?
I am just as dissatisfied and unimpressed.
I have tried and experimented a lot and in the end I made a deal with the devil and have been using gboard ever since. spelling correction, word suggestions and smooth typing simply work without any problems and without getting on my last nerve.
If installed and configured, deny network access.
Thank you for this hint!
My settings
Thanks, the same are mine but I have 3 languages and even if I write in German English spell cheking and suggestions are given.
i found microsoft swiftkey to work quite well for a plurilingual environment (myself i use english, catalan, spanish, esperanto, and turkish) that said, of course, remove network access as soon as the languages are installed. At some point, hopefully FUTO keyboard will come up to speed, until then these proprietary apps are a workaround.
Thank you for this tip! But Iʼm not sure how to remove network access for this app.
In the android settings under “Apps” choose your keyboard app and navigate to “mobile data usage”. There you can toggle “Allow network access” off.
Thank you!
I can relate to your problem as I’m using helixboard for german and english typing too. Also installed the proprietary database for swyping but spell check and autocorrect is still the worst issue. I’m hoping for futo too, but would be grateful for any hint on improving the usage of helixboard atm.
Again, if you wanna really satisfied there’s no other way then the gboard way
My Fairphone is completly Google-free and I want it to stay like this. Until iodé 5 I had no problem with spell checking. (An example of things not getting better all the time as some update-fans seem to claim.)
Some other thread pointed me towards Futo which is really nice! https://keyboard.futo.org/
