Is anybody else experiencing issues with carrier connectivity and GPS after upgrading to 7.1?
The only other culrpit I can think or is the update to openEUICC v1.5.0. Because I didn’t experience it before this too.
My reception is constantly very bad and it takes much longer to get a GPS lock if I even get a 3D fix… Sometimes I wait for minutes outside and still get no usable location.
I was on 5G but loading this page nearly took a minute.
I think it only happened after updating to one of the last 7.1 versions. If I had to take a guess it’d be the one before I’m currently running
On Pixel 8, iodéOS 7.1 I have no such issues. Reception is normal and GPS fix is within seconds. 5G speeds are normal. I use a physical SIM, so not able to comment on openEUICC. I also use Telekom Germany.
It got a bit better after another restart and carrier seems normal right now. GPS now takes about 30 seconds to get a 3D Fix which was definitely faster at some point
Not even turning on WiFi scanning helps. Is the iode Beta for Pixel 8 Pro still a thing? because there was a stable update after the last beta and no new beta. Is there a way to go back to stable?
You mean AGPS? Do you have a location provider enabled in microG as well?
About being on the “beta” channel but going back to “stable”, the last “beta” for a build number is what then becomes “stable”. For future updates, by removing updates to the “Updater” app you are then effectively back on the stable release channel, and the next stable build with a newer build than your prior beta build will then supercede it.
But sadly to go back is not something that Android does well, you would need to reflash (and probably reset userdata, then restore from seedvault and reconfigure etc.)
So you do have “Use assisted GPS” under “System Settings > Location” enabled? (it is that toggle that will then use the microG location services in addition to only GPS data). But I do think you will have reduced fix speed if you have Wi-Fi scanning off.
Under microG Location settings, do you have all those toggles on (Remember from GPS, Request from online service, Use Nominatim, etc.)?
I ask because your “3 minutes to fix” sounds like an expected “GPS only cold fix” so it seems to not be caching or using other helpers such as cell towers.
But I have had WiFi scanning off from the day I installed iodeOS and there was definitely a point when it always took under 30s in the past. “Use assisted GPS” is always on and I already tried toggling it off and on.
All toggles in microG are also on
