Obtainium / Aurora / App Manager / manual installing from USB:
CAN`T install ANY app
Status:
Motorola Edge 40 Pro
device is officially supported by iodéOS
OS is new installed: v7.1
no firewall/Pi-Hole in my net
F-Droid CAN install apps
iode(Blocker/Firewall) is temporarily deactivated (OFF)
Obtainium / Aurora / App Manager / FileManager (APK on OTG-USB): “Allow Installation” is set (active)
(Aurora uses my google account, both app-links are set; tested with anonymous account, too)
Aurora: new install tested / new boot done - NO success
After attempting to install an app, Aurora /Obtainium reports: “Some errors have occurred.”
This may happen if you have triggered a “FRP” (Factory Reset Protection) on your device, which happens if you flash a custom rom without first removing your Google account from the previous install.
Can you see if you are able to go to Developer Options and enable “Allow OEM Unlocking”? That is the easiest way to confirm, as if FPR is triggered you would not be able to toggle that.
Hello, thank you for your reply. However, there is no FRP problem:
There was no Google account on the phone when I bought it second-hand. I didn’t create a Google account and was able to install apps.
My attempt to lock the bootloader on the phone again resulted in it becoming bricked.
With the help of the Motorola software, I was able to reinstall it (and now - except in Aurora - I have not set up a Google account).
So far, everything is running smoothly - if only I could use Aurora to use my paid apps…
The developer options are active, but “Allow OEM Unlocking” is missing. I believe (okay, I don’t know) that this isn’t a problem, because the Iode installer requires “OEM unlocking” to work - and it works perfectly despite the missing entry.
It isn’t beyond possible that the person you purchased from, in reflashing, triggered FRP (meaning you didn’t see any prior Account registration but it was there previously). We now reset FRP on Pixels and Fairphone installations, I am checking if that may be implemented for Motorola or not.
One more thing to try, by the way, is seeing if by changing the device under the “Spoof manager” settings in Aurora then allows installs. Set it to a a Pixel 9a for example and then attempt to install something.
UPDATE: The developers confirmed that if your device isn’t relocked then you did not trigger FRP so I am sorry to lead you down a stray rabbit hole. So please do report back if you can install apps after adjusting your Aurora “Spoof manager” settings.
In order for things to move forward, I therefore reset the phone to its original operating system several times using Lenovo’s “Software Fix” software. Then I reinstalled Iode.
It was successful on the third attempt, so the problem does no longer exists.
As I get older, I realize that I cannot understand or solve all the problems in the world, so I am now quite satisfied with what I have achieved. ;-))
