Camera App

I’ve a Pixel 9a. I keep getting a message to update the camera app from Aurora store , (“A new version of Pixel Camera Services for s available.)”

  1. Can I update this Google based app in iodeOS and have it be safe?
  2. Where can I find a good primer on what to install/not install onto the phone to remain as untraceable as possible?

I am quite appreciative of the community’s collective knowledge and assistance.

1- Yes, the camera needs it. When I was on stock P9a, I debloated a lot. Without those pixel services the camera gave an error.

2- use as much as possible from Fdroid. Only use Aurora if there is no alternative.

Example: I use Hibernator, because Hail and Superfreezz dont work for me. And I dont want Root. So I accept some trackers in Hibernator that get blocked by Iodé / Nextdns anyway. For last app I use Hagezi Multi Ultimate filter.

But not much is blocked. Seems like Iodé browser with max protection is doing a great job.

Thanks for taking the time to help.

Happy Christmas/Holidays…

Do you mean the stock camera app, Aperture, or instead Pixel Camera?

On stock Pixel 9a-rom with Secure (Graphene) camera. Never touched Gcam on stock (dont like lineage aperture either).

Secure camera would not load after debloating those Pixel services.. Needed some HDR stuff.

So this, but from Aurora GitHub - GrapheneOS/Camera: Modern camera app focused on privacy and security with QR & barcode scanning.

When such app doesn’t need internet access, why not blocking internet for this app completely in the app settings?
