I’ve installed this app and removed Fossify Message.
It wasn’t able to handle group textos. While this new app allows it and much more. I’m very happy with its feature that allows sms to be planned in advance.
What do you think?
Cheers
This project is built on an original fork from QKSMS and QUIK, but it takes a different direction in several areas.
Opinionated UX choices: Instead of offering a large set of themes or layouts, the app prioritizes a single, consistent visual style to keep navigation predictable and distraction-free.
Reduced dependency footprint: Compared to QKSMS’s extensive use of libraries for animations and theming, this project aims to keep external dependencies to a minimum for better control and easier maintenance.
Selective feature set: Rather than replicating the full feature set of QKSMS (e.g., extensive theme packs) or QUIK's rapid-action gestures, this app includes only the features necessary for a streamlined workflow.
I have tried QKSMS before switching back to Fossify/ Simple messages. The problem which I encountered at the time was that the app did not get maintained as regularly. This one seems to be updated six months ago. Hopefully that is not a sign of things to come. SMS has been very buggy for me since I started w/CalyxOS five years ago on my journey with custom ROMs. At least Fossify messages get maintained regularly in which they recently fixed a bug where the app was pulling the wrong contact info in some instances. But please do keep posting about your experience about this one. There also seems to be another new one called Deku in F-Droid which I have not tried…
I switched to it some time back as the “compress attached photos” was working better (I think) than Fossify Messages, which was only applying compression on a photo taken with the app rather than for attached photos as well (??I think this was what me testing showed at the time but it may not be relevant now?? Would need re-testing??)
But is interesting to see the Pvot Messages now too, good to have some choice.
