I use a SHIFTphone 8.0 with Android 16 beta iodéOS 7.2 (2026-01-22). I have noticed that video recording is not possible in either the Shift camera or OpenCamera.
Yesterday, instead of displaying the video image, the Shift camera showed a green screen, which I was actually able to record. Today (after restarting), after changing to video mode I immediately received a popup message saying that recording is not working.
Yesterday, I tried recording with OpenCamera and then received a toast message after recording that the recording did not work (which was correct). Today (after the restart), the toast message no longer appears. However, recording still does not work.
The only app that works is the Aperture app that comes with the system.
I am sure that third-party cameras worked in one of the previous iodéOS versions (in any case, something with Android 15). However, I cannot say for sure that they no longer work since the upgrade to Android 16.
Someone else does not have this problem with the same software version. I’m going to uninstall and reinstall both apps again. Maybe it will work this time …

The problem persists for me. It only occurs with videos and only on Third-Party-Cams, which is why I would rule out a hardware problem.
This is strange, I read through the post you linked on the Shift forum and see that you are both on 7.2 so not only is the the same software version but the same latest update. Permissions somewhere is all I can think of…
I have set it to “ask every time,” but I allow recording every time the camera is started. I will test soon whether it does not occur when set to “only when using the app.”
Even if I set it to “when using the app,” it doesn’t work.
