[Bug] Heli Keyboard's suggestions only work in very few apps

For me the only apps where it suggests words/corrections are messengers, fossify notes and a few others. I couldn’t find an option in the settings that might affect this behavior. I am on 7.4-20260320-FP6.

So you went through “Heliboard Settings > Text Correction”? Do you use a language maybe without a dictionary installed by default in “Heliboard Settings > Dictionaries”?

Thanks for pointing me there. I indeed missed an option, it’s called “always show suggestions” (translated from german). If disabled it turns off suggestions for EVERY text-field that doesn’t explicitly request correction, this includes almost all textfields there are. So I have no suggestions in youtube when commenting & I couldn’t find a single website where it works, not even this forum.

I tried many keyboards and none of them did that by default and neither should they imo. It makes no sense to only have suggestions in messenger-apps. Maybe the default value can be changed for iodeOS?

I don’t think the average Joe would appreciate having no suggestions almost everywhere but messengers. They would have to search through the HeliBoard settings, just to get basic functionality working.
