Yes that was interesting, and thanks
If the user data is deleted, that’s not a problem for me. The question is whether the system will start up ?
Hi, I tested it again. Unfortunately, it didn’t work. After locking the bootloader, I couldn’t start the system.
I did a new installation with the Web Installer, after which I was able to lock the bootloader, and the system is now running. Everything is fine.
web installer?
Sorry, i use the Windows Installer.
Ever managed to solve this? I have the exact same issue on a Edge 40 Pro.
iodé don’t support relocking the bootloader for the Moto Edge devices, unfortunately: iodéOS official supported devices - iodé
Only the Moto G32/42/52 are able to have the bootloader re-locked. If you can get to the bootloader and unlock again then you can hopefully reinstall (but not lock).
If I try to unlock again it says I need to enable unlocking in the developer options.
It gives this message in fastboot from a terminal? Then you may unfortunately be in a situation where you didn’t have “Allow OEM Unlocking” in Developer Options before you locked it, and then if locking caused it to not boot, and that option is disabled, it may be a hard brick ![]()
Well, locking it also resets that option I guess. With a unlocked bootloader it’s always checked, and can’t be unchecked either.
What about EDL?
I think that isn’t (always?) true, it is how several Fairphone users have hard bricked their devices in the past months. For them, they would install FPOS but not lock at the end. However, FPOS install does reset that “Allow OEM Unlocking”. So then they had an unlocked device (but “Allow OEM Unlocking” was disabled). Then they install iodéOS and lock, but get tripped up by hitting “SPL (security patch level) rollback protection” which leaves it not booting. But as they also don’t have “Allow OEM Unlocking” enabled so can’t unlock again and thus it is bricked.
This also isn’t (always?) true. Other Fairphone users that ensured “Allow OEM Unlocking” was indeed allowed before installing / locking / triggering SPL rollback / No boot situation could then simply issue fastboot flashing unlock and go through the process again.
Regardless, it seems in your case it is indeed locked, doesn’t boot, and can’t be unlocked again, sorry for the problem but I think the only ones that can reset it are Motorola!
