I have used the Brax3 phone for a while now with current Iode 6.8
I notice three things that i would like to report that im struggle with.
(I like to disable Mobile data connection when im not using it, don’t like it on)
After reading if MMS require Mobile data to be always on i got mixed answer.
I have gotten a few mms-images and successfully sent a few mms-images
I fail sometimes (maby 25% luck) to both receive and send MMS pictures.
I have tried to enable mobile data when trying to send an picture but it often fails to send,
with Errorcode=5
Using fossify as gallery and sms/mms.
Have tried with the blocker off
Used the guide for the operator in my country to get correct apn and mms profiles
but i may missing something here.
Sometimes when i enable Mobile Data it fails to get Internet.
The solution for me:
Settings > Network and Internet > SIMs> and then “Turn off” and then “Turn on”
After that i can enable Mobile data and have Internet connection. Happens sometimes
After around 13-14-15 min in on a call, the call is getting distorted and i can barely hear
what the person is saying. that’s annoying and have to callback, happens all the time on the few calls i made that long.
Just a thought - have you checked the size? You cannot send very large images or videos via MMS, they need to be fairly small and your telco will have a size limit on them. They can’t even be 1MB have to be a lot lot smaller usually…
It’s not iMessage or FB Messenger or WhatsApp or whatever - no internet data. I think many people have gotten so use to these they have forgotten what MMS was like when people used it regularly 10-20 years ago (or a too young to have used MMS in any significant way before)…
I also have been getting this constantly all this week since I upgraded last Sunday… Just randomly times out and loses all internet connectivity on bot SIMs and Wi-Fi. Only been an issue for the last 4 days - was fine for the weeks prior.
I run a VPN so have uninstalled that to eliminate it as the possible cause.
Are you on speakerphone or usually the normal function (i.e. held up to ear). Note this is a known issue of sorts with BraX3, unfortunately the speakers and microphone are a bit average so always best to use with external device (e.g. I have Apple Airpods 4 that I use with mine whenever possible).
HOWEVER I do use mien occasionally on speaker phone or normally and I have noticed (again just this week since update) my speaker phone audio is especially bad - so something may have changed that’s deteriorated the sound quality. And it may be especially noticeable because the existing hardware isn’t that great to start with?
But hard to be sure - as it could just be some random calls with lower quality or temporary local cell network degradation…
(P.S. that Emoji above seems to be my ‘Emoji of the week’ for this week…)
I have now selected the option “Change size on MMS-Images” to 100kb in fossify
and it seems to work after resetting to default apn and reboot.
No limit where selected before in default mode i think
(i have been there and change the values before without luck)
Reading now that the limit may be 300kb for my operator
Will test later if i can get mms-images from others. Thanks for the clue.
Good to hear that others have this problem with no internet on Mobile data
I use wired hands-free in the 3.5mm port.
When the distortion came i removed hands-free and tried speakerphone without
any better quality.
That’s great - I haven’t checked that myself - so must do.
Ahh, right - definitely software issue then - I will keep an ear on mine and see if I hear difference through my Airpod 4’s also. They are pretty good though so they can mask a lot of inadequacies…
Resize sent MMS images set to 200kb size in Fossify sms/mms app and select “take photo” within the app, it converts the image and send it to another phone without problem.
When i select a image from gallery (Choose photo) in fossify sms/mms it fails, there are no conversion to 200kb i believe, that is maby why it fails to send.
The problem to receive images via MMS are still there,
Errorcode 4 when trying to receive images.
Wondering if the receiving MMS-pictures failure are : the Operator, Bad APN config or Software.
Edit: Others seems to have similar problems with MMS
Yes this may be the case, I hadn’t sorted out why but had noticed attached images would fail to resize (and thus fail to send). I am using “Imagepipe” from F-Droid to resize images then send these shrunk ones. But best result is convincing family to use Signal and leave the dumpster fire of of MMS/RCS/iMessage interoperability behind if possible and we get security / privacy along the way
For me I don’t have any issues receiving MMS pictures, so can’t comment on that.
Also about dropping of mobile data / distortion of calls etc. I also can’t comment. But I do wonder if cell towers are coming into play here, coming in and out of 5G coverage maybe?
