Bootloader unlocking on FP5 without sending IMEI and serial number to Google and Qualcomm

Hello everyone

I read (link) that while unlocking the bootloader of the Fairphone 5 in stock ROM the IMEI and serial num-ber are being shared with Google and Qualcomm etc.
That means that the phone is known to those companies from then on, which partly undermines the effort of using a degoogled OS like iodéOS.

The auther of the linked tutorial suggests to unlock the bootloader using the phone behind a (hardware) firewall and to allow only the domain necessary for unlocking the bootloader (in the case of a FP5 factory.fairphone.com).

That’s all fine when I install iodéOS myself on the phone.
But what if I buy the phone with iodéOS pre-installed (in the iodé shop)?
Does iodé take such measures and prevent this sensitive information from being shared with Google and Qualcomm etc.?

[By the way, I have no clue why I am not allowed to post the word “num-ber”.]

I removed the restriction on the word “number”, not sure why it was in place.

Sorry there isn’t any reply yet on the question about how iodé goes about unlocking the Fairphone 5. Maybe @Antoine has some insight when he is able to reply.

Lastly, I also do not have access to create a new tag, but you are right, if iodé sells a phone model there should be a corresponding tag. Hopefully this will be added shortly as well.

Hi Rik,
The word number was restricted due to spam reasons.

all default telemetry is disabled when settng up a iodé FP but we don’t block all networks.

I added the tags
