Aurora suddenly asks for confirmation before installing/updating

Hi everyone,

in the past Aurora store always installed/updated apps without further confirmation.

A short while this changed. Now before an installation/update commences I get the usual “Do you really want to install this APK?” dialog from the OS.

Did a signature or else get dropped here?

For my phone there hasn’t been a major upgrade for a while. Guess Android 13 is the last one available anyway.

Same here, I’m getting really frustrated from all of these minor bugs at Iodé …

Same here on 2x Samsung S9 ( iodé 4.23B) and 2x Samsung S10 (iodé 4.23)

Working on Samsung Tab S5e LTE

Hi,
Unfortunately as we don’t fork Aurora we are dependant on upstream updates, we can’t do anything about it unless one day we decide to fork it and create our own version.

On my device, only certain apps ask prompt for that additional permission to update. Other apps just update as normal.

For example, Firefox downloaded and then prompted me. TrainerRoad did not. It just updated like in the past.

I haven’t figured out what determines that yet.

Does the problem really lie in only the Aurora Store app? I hadn’t assumed Custom OS makers to be required to import some sort of public key to authorize a store app to install stuff without intervention.

I think it is some sort of background permission / authentication issue with how it works with the Anonymous login to the play store.

Only guessing it is related, but at least for me I have to force stop Aurora after a day or else when I try to install a new app it says “unavailable”. But with stop and restart it then shows as available and installs fine.

Possibly auto updates also indirectly get blocked by the same permission / authentication issue.

Maybe setting Aurora as device owner will help
