Aperture app'. A critical error

Just downloaded Aperture camera app on to a Sony Xperia 10 ii, iode Gsi 5.25 that crashed whilst using it taking me back to the install/open page to tell me that a critical error had occured, please report it to the dev’s.

The aperture version was 1.0-iode.33 Could be down to running the Gsi rather than the full blown OS, I dunno.

The ‘Open Camera with iode tweaks’ has been taken down off F-droid which doesn’t help as it was my go to alternative app for Sony camera problems. The issue only seems to occur on Gsi installs. Spent last night installing and testing the best alternative camera app’s for Lineage based OS’s (Duck Duck Go AI assist), and ‘Ma Camera’ app’ turned out to be the only one I tried that offered both front and back camera functionality without freezing or crashing on zoom.

Turns out that the ‘Ma Camera’ dev’s designed the app with iphones in mind, so not sure what that is all about unless it’s something to do with Sony supplying Apple with camera systems which I know they have done for other manufacturers.

Any chance of reinstating ‘Open Camera with iode tweaks’ back on F-droid if only for Gsi purposes?

We don’t maintain anymore our fork of Open Camera. It was useful when embedded in iodéOS which is not the case anymore. You can just install the normal version of Open Camera available on F-Droid (and ioDroid), which is btw much more recent than the latest tweaked version.

I tried the normal Open camera version before but has the same problem of being unable to switch between front and back cameras. Just been back on to f-droid and it invited me to download the dedicated iode app (iodroid) and downloaded the version of aperture it was offering me. Tested it and it’s working fine. Flips between front and back cameras, zooms in and zooms out without issue.

Thanks for the heads up Vince, will mark it as solved. BTW ‘iodroid’….. great idea! Any chance of integrating Pockr as a dedicated iode app?
