I have successfully installed the iode-5.24-20260504 GSI on my Unihertz Jelly Star. Most things are working fine, which is great. However, when I tried to follow the Android Auto setup instructions, Android Auto was not listed as a pre-installed app. I did install it from the Aurora Store, as well as the required stubs, but it still won’t connect to my car (2019 Mazda 3).
Does the fact that it was not listed as a pre-installed app mean that it doesn’t have the system-level permissions it needs? Is there a way to fix this? Will I have to wait until there’s an iode 6 GSI?
You are right that Android Auto will only work in iodé v6+ (Android 15+).
Updating the GSI to a newer base than its current Android 14 base is difficult as the upstream LineageOS GSI builds aren’t available for these newer versions (from our prior source). There are some LineageOS 23.x (Android 16 base) GSI versions from others but they have not yet been evaluated
(This is to the best of my understanding, our lead developer may give clarification that I will then update here)
