Updates Not Showing In Updater (But Update Entry in News is)

So I have a second iodé device as a backup (Pixel 8P) and I have it powered off for periods when I’m not using it (as I use my other primary iodé device as my daily driver) - but when I power it on I cannot get any updates to show - even if I leave it powered on for 2-3 days… I’ve tried repeatedly over the last 2-3 weeks - especially with the hotfixes (on average I’ve had it powered on twice a week for between ½ to 2 days each time for the last 3 weeks).

It only shows v6.9 that I installed 31 October which is what is currently installed (and when I got the device was what I initially installed on it). The iodé ‘News’ app however is showing entry for the 6 November ‘hot-fix’ update (5 November for those other side of the date line), but no update package is in the Updater app?

The news app also isn’t showing the 11 and 19 November hot fix update announcements as yet either (I didn’t expect the latest to show but thought the one from last week should be showing by now)? So in basically 3½ weeks I haven’t had a single update appear when 3 have now been issued?

Is this a known issue that occasionally a device can’t access updates… Is there a way to force it to pull down the next in sequence update through the updater app?

TIA.

Hotfix updates aren’t for all devices, they are only available for devices where a specific fix has been released (such as the brax3 wifi authentication fix which I think you may be referring to  )

In the case of the Pixel 8 Pro husky, you are on the most up-to-date stable release. There is an iodé 7.0 beta release now available for testing but let me start a new thread on that as it will need an updated version of the “Updater” app…. I will start a new thread on that topic.

Also, for more expanation note that if you look at “News” on the Pixel 8 Pro, those 2 hotfix posts shouldn’t be shown (at least I don’t see them on a Pixel 6 or a Pixel 7 Pro, but they do show on the brax3).

Hi @rik - as per my original post I have the 5(?) November Post in my News, but no corresponding update in my updater app on the GP8P. My installer shows 31 October date for the only package listed (which is incidentally the date I first installed iodé on it)…

OK in that case since you are on the beta channel, the “last beta” (Oct 31) always equals the stable OTA (Nov 5). This is a caveat of running beta. If an update to stable is needed, it always is preceded by another beta build (meaning beta should never be behind stable).

But I’m not. At least not consciously or deliberately. I just installed the OS via the easy install tool on the iodé website…

I have a similar issues since updating to iodé 6.9. Previously, when checking for new updates the updater said “no new updates available” or “new update available“. Since 6.9 I just get an error message “check for new updates failed”. It looks like my device can no longer connect to the OTA server. Am I forever stuck on 6.9 now? (I use my phone with another language, the error messages are my translation, the original english error messages migth be different)

Pixel 5 (redfin), it also show the update is from October 31st.

At the moment, this is the latest stable version. Which update did you expect to receive? Version 7 is beta only at the moment (and would need a special updater version). “UpdaterBetaIode6Vx.apk : to test beta updates of iodé 6.x (Android 15) and switch to iodé 7.x (Android 16) when available”

There may have been some confusion. I know there is no newer version available, but I am worried that the updater says “could not check for new updates“ where it was for all previous versions of iodéOS always “no new updates available“ or “new update available“ - since 6.9 the update check always fails, that was not the case in previous versions.

You could check by clicking on the Updater app’s info page and scroll down to network usage (in my system language, it is called “Mobile Datennutzung”). Check if network usage and internet access is (still) activated.

I would say to wait for the 7.0 release info. If it is still giving the error we can look further.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I could solve the problem by removing and re-installing the iodé updater app. It now says “no new updates available” as it should
