On the 2. September I got a notification that an iodéOS update would be available in the updater. But the updater did not show any available updates. When searching manually for new updates, I get the message “No new updates found”.
New Issue, Regression, or Feature Request?
Regression. Former OTA-updates worked without a problem.
Additional Information:
adb logcat showed:
iode-7.8-20260902-sunfish-ota.zip has type UNOFFICIAL
If you have “Unofficial” in your build name then you do not have the official iodéOS install, instead a community build likely made by me.
But is is a bit confusing since I haven’t built 7.7 for the 4a either, I have a bit quitely discontinued these as there are official builds for it. Do you know if you first installed the community build from me?
UPDATE: I don’t quite understand why it reports as “UNOFFICIAL”, but Vincent noted your problem is likely that you have the v6-to-v7 updater patch still installed. Please remove it this way: “Long press Updater app icon > App Info > 3 dots > Uninstall Updates” and then restart the Updater and refresh to look for version 7.8.
Thank you so much for your thoughts and insights in this matter.
I did indeed install iodéOS in March via the official installer and had then to apply the Updater patch. All OTA updates since then worked without a problem - until version 7.8.
After removing the Updater update as you suggested, I could install version 7.8!
I probably would never have figured that out by myself so thank you again!
I should have caught it earlier, the “UNOFFICIAL” in your build name threw me off, but that may be how the 4a is treated (builds maintained by us, but not an “official” device since we don’t see it at our shop).
The reason the move to 7.8 is tripping this issue is because from 7.7 to 7.8 there is a change to the format of the API used for OTA updates.
The app called “Updater” (on your homescreen under the Settings circle if on a default iodéOS install, or from your main App menu). Long press it’s icon
