Re-lock bootloader on Pixel 8a

My apologies if this has been asked a million times. I just installed iode OS on my Pixel 8a successfully. I would like to lock the bootloader but I don’t recall seeing any message regarding that when I used the installer. Everything is working as it should but I want to re-lock the bootloader and do not know how. Thanks in advance for any help. :slightly_smiling_face:

Probably not the best answer, but since relocking erases all data anyway… why not install again via the fastboot method ? (another download package)

I installed pixel 9a in Fastboot in november and the script asked to relock.

Or maybe uncheck ‘OEM unlocking’ in developer settings is enough to lock (Erases data).

I was under the impression that the installer re-locks it for you by default? Not sure, sorry.

No, usually it asks at the end if the user wishes to lock or not. But you have to be quite quick to answer, otherwise it proceeds without locking.

Thanks everyone for your help. I think for right now it’s probably better to leave it unlocked. I’m not sure that I will continue on with iode OS permanently. So I’m not that worried about it. It will be easier to move to Graphene at some point. I will say though that that is something that they really need to look at. The installation should pause until that lock/unlock question is answered. I’m guessing that happened when I moved away for a few minutes because when I came back the installation said “press any key to continue.” Hence, I never saw that “question” at the end of the installation. Thank you again folks. :slightly_smiling_face:

Just an update. I realized that since the bootloader on my 8a was unlocked, I could fairly easily just install the OS again. That is what I did. Re-installed the OS and this time sat there quietly and waited until I got the bootloader question. The installation went perfectly and the bootloader is now locked. :slightly_smiling_face: :upside_down_face:

I installed two years ago iodeOS on my son Pixel 4a, and bootloader is still unlocked, maybe I didn’t see the question at the end of script.
is it to late to lock it?

better to reinstall everything?

Whether you lock via some Adb command or simply reinstall, it will erase data partition anyway. So backup.
