Question about vendor security patches (Pixel 8 Pro)

Hello,

I have a Pixel 8 Pro (husky). I was reading here that you needed to downgrade to Android 15 to flash Iode, which I have done. I used the official Iode tool on Linux to flash to my phone and locked the bootloader.

All seems good, it’s currently on 1 October 2025 Android security patch. However, vendor security patch is still on 5 May 2025. So it’s quite old. I was wondering if this is normal and if there’s a way of getting it to a newer vendor security patch?

I was previously using GrapheneOS and both the Android and Vendor patches were at November. So far I am preferring Iode, it’s easier to use, more things are working and performance is better.

Thanks!

2025-05-05 was the last full Pixel ASB release of Android 15, while Android 16 was released on June 10. All patches that came after this ASB were only for the open source components as Android 16 has not been ported yet by iodé.

I see, that makes sense. Thanks for the explanation!

Excellent way to explain the differences.
