Microphone not working for calls, working elsewhere

Short Description:

When I initiate a voice/video call on any of the affected apps, the person on the other end of the call cannot hear me. I can use the microphone in the same app to send voice notes without issue.

Additional Information:

I have tried the internal phone’s mic, a USB headset and some Soundcore Bluetooth earbuds and all reproduce the same issue. Recorder app works correctly. I have performed a factory reset via the settings panel, and only installed these apps / linked my bluetooth earbuds without installing/messing with any other settings and the issue reoccurs. Have checked permission settings and made sure there are no other apps trying to “steal” the microphone permission off whatever app I’m trying to call with.

I remember seeing some other microphone issues, specifically with a Fairphone 5. Here is this one on the Merlin bird recording app not working with the microphone, for example.

But let me look around a bit, I think there were some others related to your case specifically, namely with calls in various chat platform apps (non-“normal”-telephony calls).

There is this one regarding the Moto G (2024) that I make the unofficial builds for. I will see if I can test / reproduce this issue there. In that case, it seemed a wired headset was the only thing that worked?
