iodeOS installed in slot b

Hello,

I switched from CalyxOS to iodeOS on my Fairphone 5. I did this using the ./flash-all.sh script (on Linux). And then I locked the bootloader again.
I then went into recovery mode again and noticed that iodeOS is installed in slot b (not slot a). I wanted to ask if this is “bad”?
A few years ago, I had a Fairphone 3 with LineageOS and installed LineageOS in slot b. This caused problems during an Android update (12 to 13) and I had to run the copy-partition script. Unfortunately, this does not work in iode recovery (signature verification failed).

I wanted to ask whether it is necessary for me to unlock the bootloader, install iodeOS on slot a, and reset the smartphone? Currently, iodeOS is working fine, but I am concerned that it will no longer work after an update.

Welcome!

slot a and slot b are used back and forth when system upgrades occur. If you are on slot a, the next time you upgrade it installs to slot b. If there is any problem applying the update to the other slot it can then “roll back” instead of leaving you in an unbootable state. So no problem if it is on slot b now, after next update in a month you will be on slot a.
