Iode will nicht auf Shiftphone 8

Jetzt habe ich ganz beherzt mit adb -d sideload SHIFTPHONE_8.SOS.7.0.L-RELEASE-LIGHT-20260409-OTA.zip drübergebügelt. Ging problemlos. Aber das iode Install-Script will immer noch nicht (ja, vorher mit Vol+ und Power in den Bootlader-Modus):

Dann habe ich versucht, per adb sideload auf SOS-G zurück zu kommen, was aber vom Smartphone wegen “SPL downgrade” abgelehnt wird.

Ich wäre ja geneigt, das Gerät als defekt und Garantiefall abzutun, wenn nicht die Installation von /e/OS funktioniert hätte.

Nachtrag: sideload mit iode scheitert an Signaturprüfung.

Probier mal folgendes:
Öffne ein Terminal im ordner linux (aus der iode zip) und führe ./fastboot --set-active=a aus, während dein handy im bootloader/fastboot-mode ist.

Danach versuch das Gleiche nochmal aber mit dem Befehl fastboot --set-active=a und poste den gesamten output hier.

Ersteres verwendet iode’s fastboot-befehl, zweiteres verwendet LMDEs fastboot-befehl (falls installiert). Ich frag mich ob in beiden Fällen ein Fehler kommt.

Auf dem Rechner habe ich also eine ältere Version. Aber das max nix, weil das installer-Script ohnehin das mitgebrachte fastboot nutzt. Nur bei meinen manuellen Versuchen könnte es relevant sein. Ich werde gleich mal nach einem Update suchen. - Wirklich spannend ist der Unterschied zwischen den beiden Modi bootloader/fastboot. Die verhalten sich nämlich nicht identisch:

im Bootloader-Modus (Vol+ & Power) oder adb reboot bootloader

Dein Shift8 macht mich alle Also ich hätte jetzt genau das Gegenteil erwartet. Quasi dass

das Ergebnis via adb reboot fastboot ist und
das Ergebnis via adb reboot bootloader ist.

Vorweg, es gibt jetzt Version 7.5:

Also wenn der Slotwechsel funktioniert, sollte auch das Skript funktionieren. Denn in idr. ist es laut deinen Logs immer schon am Slotwechsel gescheitert, was defacto der erste Befehl im Skript ist.

Folgende Vorschläge:

Ich würde jetzt einfach nochmal testen ob du erfolgreich den fastboot --set-active=a befehl ausgeführt bekommst auf irgendeinen weg. Und sobald es klappt, direkt das installations-skript hinterher ausführen!
Alternativ, probiere fastboot von LMDE zu nutzen, dass geht indem du in der Datei flash-all.sh, die Zeile 19: fastboot=linux/fastboot mit fastboot=fastboot ersetzt. Davon erhoffe ich mir aber nicht sehr viel.

Für mich wirkt es so, also ob das Script (oder eine der Binaries) etwas als gegeben voraussetzt, was bei iode vorhanden ist, aber bei anderen (SOS, eOS) nicht. Das als Rückmeldung an die Entwickler.

Jedenfalls ist jetzt iodé auf dem Shift8, super! Vielen Dank an alle, die mit gedacht und geholfen haben! Kudos!

Eine Frage noch: Gibt es eine Möglichkeit, die Boot-Meldung “Your device has loaded a different operating System” loszuwerden?

Nein. Es ist die Warnung, dass du dich im yellow state befindest. Also zwar mit gelockten Bootloader aber mit inkonsistenten AVB-Keys. So sieht das genauso bei CalyxOS aus.

Was die Meldung angeht, man kann das soweit ich weiß ändern, zumindest bei älteren Geräten ging das. Ich hab es schon gemacht. Problem ist, man muss kritische Bereiche der Firmware verändern, z.B. den Bereich der den Bootloader lädt.

Sollte man ein Oopsie machen und besagter bootloader lädt dadurch nicht mehr, startet dein handy nicht mehr und du hast dadurch auch keine Möglichkeit mehr diesen Oopsie rückgängig zu machen, ohne den Speicher aus dem Smartphone zu löten.

Deswegen macht das idR. keiner aber weiß nicht wirklich ob das bei moderneren Smartphones noch so ist.

Beim Fairphone kannst es aber skippen durch doppeltippen der power-taste, das sollte beim Shift8 auch so sein.

Ne. Was du meinst, ist wieder für konsistente AVB-Keys zu sorgen (die Meldung muss bleiben, wenn die Keys inkosistent sind). Dafür braucht man aber eben auch ein System, Bootloader und Recovery, die zueinander passend signiert sind. Und das gibt es von iodé für dieses Gerät (und die meisten anderen Geräte nicht). Immer wenn es auch so läuft, sollte man nicht noch mehr Dinge flashen.
