Feature Request: My wish is, that iodé browser is included in seedvault-backups.
Browsing history can not be locally exported from firfox and derivates without the firefox-sync-service. I would like to keep my history, bookmarks and settings after a seedvault backup restore of iodé browser.
As far as I know the developer can decide to set a no-backup-flag or not.
I did check on this, we are a bit hesitant to do it as Mozilla themselves explicitly set the “no-backup” flag. But the question is why Mozilla isn’t setting this as possible? My guess is because it stores passwords or other things, and that may be the same reason we would be a bit hesitant to allow it?
I’d also like to be able to back up my iodé-browser bookmarks without a Mozilla account.
I just don’t want to create an account just to manage my bookmarks. That’s also why I use Cromite or Titanium on Android. 
Hi Rik, thanks for checking! Can you let the user decide? I am using a separate password managerand dont store passwords inside mozilla. Therefore it would be fine for me to include mozilla into seedvault-backup.
The problem is I don’t think the data is accessible outside the app (like from a file browser)? I am not sure where it lives, but am guessing it may be encrypted? So an external app like Seedvault would not be able to do anything with it. You may need to dig around on Firefox forums / Reddit etc to see if you can manually get at the data (without a rooted phone), then if so and it is manually possible then it would be a possible consideration to allow overriding that flag. But I suspect it isn’t (easily) accessed?
Most browsers have a function to “Export Bookmarks”. I can’t confirm for iodéBrowser, I uninstalled it. But just exporting bookmarks might be fairly harmless, no? The problem always comes importing them again, whether to another brand, or a new version of the same brand.

@breiti wants to manually export bookmarks etc. Thaths not possible in mozilla/iodebrowser at the moment but would be nice to have. The backup-flag most likely does not help here, I agree.
I want to safe settings, bookmarks, history, … eg everything of mozilla/iodebrowser in seedvault for restore (phone lost, phone change).
Can you allow the backup-flag for my usecase?
On desktop systems Mozilla based browsers keep their Bookmarks, Cookies, History, Settings, Site storage, &c. in the user config or preferences in a folder /$HOME/.mozilla/ or .browsername/ I might have expected Android browsers to hold a similar folder at /Internal storage/Android/Data/ but it is not user accessible, presumably to avoid self-inflicted injuries. Surely a decent backup app should have read only access to this?
My speculation is that it is encrypted meaning an external backup app would just have encrypted files to look at that would not be able to be restored (as I am also assuming that it is a unique key such as their default profile folder hash on desktop but that is not encrypted so can be somewhat easily recreated). The point is that the app being able to be backed up with Seedvault would not result in a usable backup.
I did do a bit of light searching as to how to manually backup / restore from Firefox Android and came up empty… except for maybe with root (?)
Why? Do they think it’s too easy for a third party to gain root access? I’ll gladly be corrected, but I’m not aware of any Desktop Mozilla derivative that encrypts by default the user settings and history. I’m currently going through 10 mainstream browsers from F/io-droid looking at audio playback, some of these allow Bookmarks, Cookies, History, Settings to be backed up to an SD card at /External storage/Documents/Browser backup/ I’ll make a list of who is what
Backup/restore of all firefox/Iodé browser data (bookmarks, firefox settings, extensions, extension settings) did work with both NeoBackup and AndDiSa last time I set up a new phone and tried several backup options. So I don’t think the data is encrypted. If I remember correctly I even managed to restore a regular firefox backup to Iodé browser (don’ t remember how, either renaming AndDiSa backup files or by moving data folders on temporarily rooted phone). I don’t remember if it included passwords, I may have restored these from firefox sync. So I guess backup/restore should be possible with seedvault if flag is changed.
Location used to be root\data\data\org.mozilla.firefox\files\mozilla\xxx.default where xxx is a unique combination of numbers and letters. That’s from a quite old bookmark in my file browser. Location may have changed in latest Android version. Phone is not rooted anymore, so can’t check.
