Hi, I have tried to install iode onto a moto g32 devon which is still using andoid 13. Tried the installer and manual way numerous times without success. Bootlloader is unlocked. I am new to this and learning as I go and see that iode 6 is based on android 15.
Am I correct in thinking that I need to install iode 4 on android 13?
I have used the motorola recovery tool twice now to return back to stock after failed attempts and the latest android version available seems to be 13.
Thanks
Stu
The v5.x builds will install an A14 based iodé build, the v6.x builds will install an A15 based build. Motorola didn’t provide an A14 or A15 build for the device, but no worries, iodé is helping keep your device up to date after Motorola gave up on it!
Can you give more information on what installer issues you are facing, and also what issues following manual installation attempts you faced? I don’t have the device, but maybe we can get the issues resolved.
Hello stu,
I also own a moto g32 devon, and I successed to install iodéOS on it.
But it has been a little bit painful since I didn’t manage to use the package installer application.
At the end, I successed to install iodéOS via a Windows 11 computer, and by using 2 different USB cables.
@rik mentionned in another thread that the USB connection between PC and phone is critical. And some cable can work during the first step of installation, but not anymore after reboot.
So, I used 2 cables, and check that phone was correctly detected by Windows before doing further in the installation. If not, I tried another cable.
I know, it’s a bit weird… I don’t have clear explanation about that.
I ordered another g32 for my wife, and I will install iodé OS on it also very soon. So, I will do the whole installation process again. We can thus keep in touch here until you also success to install it.
Thanks Rik & Fonkykoala,
I tried again today with the intention of recording properly my actions and results so that you would be able to assist me further. Tried several different USB cables with the installer but always getting stuck on the unlocking bootloader stage.
Tried again manual way and had success, I got to the Lineage recovery stage where all of the youtube videos that I have watched say to then adb sideload the custom rom zip file, which I have been trying to do without any success previously. So this time thinking that it had not worked again I did a full reboot and to my surprise it rebooted into iode.
I was just on the verge of thinking I am out of my depth with this and giving up. I also didn’t realise that it would update to Android 15 on completion so that is a bonus.
Thanks for the offers of help and inspiring me to not give up on it.
Stu.
Glad to read that you succeeded !
I’m sure you’ll enjoy iodé. Once installed, everything is smooth
But, it’s a pity that the installation is so painful. IodéOS has the potential to address a larger population interested in privacy, but the installation process could be a real issue.
Maybe the installer will be improved to be plug&play which would be really great : you plug, you click and your new OS is ready for use.
But I can imagine that it’s far to be easy.
But maybe the community can help to achieve this
Yes, after a bit of research I decided to use iode and just looked at the list of compatible devices and thought it would be easy and straight forward😀
You may still be able to help me, because I didn’t know what I was doing I failed to lock the bootloader before rebooting into iode.
Do I have to boot into recovery and factory reset again to get the option to lock bootloader or is there another way?
Since I will install iodéOS on a new moto g32 from scratch, I will note all the installation step, and maked a recap here.
During my first installation, I did lot of various tests, and now I didn’t remember what worked, and what didn’t work
Beginning of next week I post all my installation process here !
