Installer sticks at checking bootloader

Hi everyone,
I manage to get through the installer steps until the installer starts checking the bootloader. My phone has the black screen with white/red/green text on it, and whether or not I proceed from there doesn’t seem to matter. The installer can be left for a long time without the bootloader being registered. It says it’s still locked, despite following the instructions in the installer. Also, if the phone is unplugged at any point, the installer will not register it in any way (even if OEM unlock is turned off again) unless I delete the whole folder and re-extract the installer. ADB is installed, my PC detects the phone, but the installer will not.

Am I missing something drivers-wise when installing that the installation program is not telling me?

What OS you use?

The manufacturer and model of the phone you are trying to install on would also be of interest I’m thinking.

It is in the tags, but it’s a Fairphone 5.

The solution was to ensure Windows had updated drivers under the Google header in the optional updates section; this is not explained in the installer, but I found someone else having similar issues on another forum and it was suggested.
