Google Pixel 9 really ungoogled?

Hello,
I read your blog about the Google Pixel 9 phone preconfigured with iodéOS.
I understand the “temptation” to get the best product WITH privacy, as I had also this thought before leaving my Samsung Note with excellent camera + waterproof for a Fairphone 5 work iodéOS.
And I understand very well the attempt for iodéOS to touch a wider public and to find ways to make it financially in the deep ocean among tech white sharks…
I decided not to get a Pixel for the following reasons:

  • Is it relevant to fight against Google monopoly by giving them money buying one of their products, specially for a small company like iodé? (at this point, I have the feeling that it is more “sleeping with the devil” than “dancing with him” …)
  • How not to think that such a huge company as Google has the technical and financial means to keep control of their phone through the hardware and of course hide it from their public (the history of the GAFAM is full of stories like that, trying to do things secretly without telling their customers…, without speaking about the “Biper” war operation…)?
I am looking for to hearing your thoughts about this topic…

Thank you for your thoughts. You bring black on white (for me having a dark theme white on black) things I have had in my mind, since I have bought my fairphone 3+ in 2021. I won’t ever buy a phone from google, I make a boikott to not give them my money and not have access to my privacy as I do with microsoft, apple but also with amazon e Co.

If FOSS OS’s even so much as appear as though they may become a threat to the bottom line’s of Big Tech it’s a nailed on certainty that the big players will sabotage the life support system. So best not to become too reliant on them in the first instance I say. If privacy alone isn’t enough to convince the users to switch over then there’s no hope for FOSS IMHO.
