Hello,

I disabled the notifications of the iode app, however, every time I reboot my phone, I get a notification from the iode app with “widget service” in its title, but the notification is empty otherwise.

 ![signal-2026-09-04-09-32-33-168](https://community.iode.tech/uploads/default/original/2X/1/1cbbdd1f0144a60b1dbce9d54ab82bfcd5ccde61.png)

This seems to be similar to [Iode blocker-app widget triggers notification every app-start since widget after one-time use](https://community.iode.tech/t/iode-blocker-app-widget-triggers-notification-every-app-start-since-widget-after-one-time-use/7528)

However, the linked Gitlab issue [Making sure you're not a bot!](https://gitlab.iode.tech/ota/issue-tracker/-/work_items/64) has been closed for 7 months.

I tried resettings the iode app’s data (as suggested in [Making sure you're not a bot!](https://gitlab.iode.tech/ota/issue-tracker/-/work_items/64#note_15158)), but it did not help. The notification still appears on reboot.

Is there a way to disable this notification or is this, as suggested in the issues, a bug?

Difference to the linked issue: This is not happening on opening the app, but on rebooting the phone. The notification does not appear when I quit the app (or even force-stop it) and then reopen it.

Using iode 7.8 on FP5.

Thanks!

If’ve a fp5, too. iodé blocker runs in shelter and mainprofil. Every time I open the blocker the widget of the mainprofil is reported. And also at restart of the phone. Don’t understand why the bugreport is closed.

iodé has not used [gitlab.com](http://gitlab.com) for multiple years.

To the issue, @ichich or @DiTA can you check that inside the iodé app \> Settings \> Notifications \> Display Notification" is disabled? This is the way to stop the notification, not from “App Info \> Notifications”.

Hi Rick, as you can read here,

> [@Iode blocker-app widget triggers notification every app-start since widget after one-time use](https://community.iode.tech/t/iode-blocker-app-widget-triggers-notification-every-app-start-since-widget-after-one-time-use/7528):
>
> Hello everybody! Since I temporarily tried out the widget from the Iodé Blocker app, whenever I start the Iode app, a notification appears under my notification that says: “iodé Widget service”. In the app, both buttons under Notifications are turned off, but this only turns off the permanent information about the protection status, which also works. Under App Info or in the Notification you cannot turn off any notifications. So I always have to remove the notification manually. What`s wrong? …

I’ve of course checked the settings. Unfortunately, to no avail.

The problem has been going on for over half a year and nothing’s happened. If Iodé doesn’t use GitHub, I wonder why you opened the ticket there. In any case, the problem is real.

I also have the notifications disabled in the app.

But @rik why do you refer to [gitlab.com](http://gitlab.com)? The issue was opened at gitlab.iode.tech: [https://gitlab.iode.tech/ota/issue-tracker/-/work\_items/64](https://gitlab.iode.tech/ota/issue-tracker/-/work_items/64)

Sorry I mis-viewed the issue link, so all the talk about [gitlab.com](http://gitlab.com) is of course just me making a lot of confusion.

To the issue, it was closed as noted because it couldn’t be reproduced. I am also not able to reproduce: disabling the notification in the iodé app settings and then rebooting does not show this empty “widget” notification as I seem to have reported with iodéOS 7.1 previously.

I’ll re-open and link this thread. Maybe it is a FP5 specific issue.

@rik have you also placed the iodé widget? I’m also getting this empty notification on my Pixel 5 running iodéOS 7.8, but I thought it was a notification required for the widget to run in the background. When the widget is removed, the notification disappears.

If I add a desktop widget then yes, the persistent notification return as you describe. I think this is required as you note.

But I think @DiTA and @ichich do not have a desktop widget (but still have the “zombie notification”), is that right?

Hi everyone, yes, that’s exactly how it is. I’m not using a widget; everything’s disabled, and yet this notification keeps popping up as soon as I start my phone or open the iodé Blocker. After that, I have to close the notification manually until the next time I open the iodé Blocker.

Greets, dita

Right, my mistake. I’ve only experienced the behaviour described with the widget present.

Yes, I also don’t use the widget, and the notification appears.

I am not certain this will be related, but possibly?

> Good news! Our lead developer has recreated the issue and that allowed him to better identify (and fix) the problems with “Preinstalled Apps”. It had to do a race condition / contingency issue between 2 system services getting started out of expected order in some cases (strangely common for the FP5 as noted but it technically could have happened on any device). The fix will be part of the next builds, 7.9 / 6.19.
