iodé Browser (Firefox) sync is no longer functioning on my FP3. Anybody else? I post it here because it’s working fine on my PC. Don’t have any other connected devices at hand to check those.
On the phone, going to the tabs → synchronised tabs and pressing the Sync button, it just says Synchronising… though the icon is static. Nothing happens. If I go into the Account Settings and press ‘Synchronise now’, again the icon doesn’t turn, nothing happens.
I tried signing out of my mozilla account on the FP3 and back in. The account setup is all as it should be but now the options for what to synchronise are all greyed out and cannot be selected/unselected. All apps are up to date, latest version of iodé Browser, latest iodéOS. Rebooted, no change.
I just created a bugzilla account to go look up any recent reports. There is this one, although at any given time there’s bound to be somebody somewhere saying it’s not working. Difficult to know for sure how many other reports might indicate something recently gone wrong, if I sort the bug reports for ‘firefox sync’ by date, there are countless dozens from the last week but going into any individual bug it seems they’re always years old with no recent comments, so the latest update must just be someone read the bug or changed its classification. If I sort by bug ID there’s nothing else from recent days.
Prior to logging out and back into my mozilla account on the phone, it showed the last sync as two days ago, yet the list of synced tabs from other devices is always blank.
Yes, I just noticed this a few days ago on my FP4.
My desktop browser showed a completely different set of tabs than my iode browser. The Sync wheel was also spinning, sort of like it was hung. I essentially signed out and back in, and it updated properly. I’ve not pursued it anymore, and looking at it now, it’s currently up to date.
Also, I’m syncing to LibreWolf and Firefox on desktop.
Sync has just come back for me, no rhyme or reason to it. First time I open the browser today and there they are, have to assume it’s flaky servers unless I read otherwise.
I’ll mark it as ‘solved’ for sake of forum tidiness though there isn’t really a solution, nor a known explanation at this point. It’s working again until it’s not working again.
I just wanted to reach out and say that since my comment I have not had an issue with sync since. I’m currently syncing iode browser to my desktop’s (pop OS 22.04) FF and libreWolf. I’m on a FP4 with iode 6.1.
