I got me an eSIM but fail to activate it. The provider’s app fails with “device does not meet Google play criteria”, I cannot use SIM in settings, it’s grayed out, and an installation of OpenEUICC succeds, but I cannot start it, it crashes with this logcat. There are a few topics already, but I fail to extract any useful information from them, so sorry for duplicates, because I may be too dense …

Edit: cannot find OpenEUICC under preinstalled apps, which might cause the problem, because this way I cannot install it as a system app,I think

If you don’t want that eSIM to go to waste, and _if_ it can be used without the company’s app, you could buy an eSIM adapter (i.e. a writable SIM card), and with the JMP SIM Manager from F-Droid, and an eSIM reader/writer (the size of a USB thumb drive), write that eSIM and a few more besides, to the eSIM adapter card.

Then you could use eSIMs (on the card) in your phone, and move the card to a different phone if you want. Depending on the eSIM adapter you buy, and your phone, you might need to use the eSIM writer again when you want to enable/disable/install an eSIM. Or it might be that you can do that in the JMP SIM Manager app without needing the eSIM writer again.
