Call & sms issue on S10e (iode7.7)

i thought i should report potential bug to help with the newly implied voLTE.

carrier: EE (UK)
iode7.7

couldn’t properly call 101 (non-emergency police number), it at first connected, but when transfer to any department, it just doesn’t connect anymore.

edited this comment to avoid confusion.

The “key” icon in your top bar indicates a VPN is active, is this possibly at fault for no data (and other issues as IMS / VoLTE will need a working data connection).

So most calls work but only to your bank and the 101 to non-emergency is not working? But if your data connection is not working then that can be the same issue here possibly.

ah, ignore second post (i wasn’t told i run out of credit).

but back to the original post (2 weeks before second post which i still had credit),
i had tried turning vpn off, but it was still the same, not working.
put the sim card in another phone (non-iode) at the same location could call 101.

I am still not clear if you had mobile data working but only VoLTE not working? With the working phone you can check what the settings are, then apply on iodéOS. More troubleshooting details here:

thanks for helping

only VoLTE wasn’t partially working
(only original post, not second post)
(mobile data was found out to be my mistake)

APN were the same,
your post mentioned after calling #*#*4636#*#*,
“Set Preferred Network Type: NR/LTE”
while my default value is GSM/WCDMA/LTE(PRL),
is that what’s breaking it?

3G is gone here in UK, so my S10e only has 2G & 4G, should i still choose NR/LTE?

(all the screenshots of phone info were posted here:

)

With no 3G, “GSM” is technically also used for 2G but its primary 3G usage is not available now. WCDMA, however, is a 3G only technology, so this is not available or needed.

The “NR/LTE” would restrict you to 4G / 5G only (so no 2G either). I am not sure how your coverage is, if you need to retain the ability to drop down to 2G (doing so is a major quality issue, many say a security issue as well), then you would need to keep GSM.

Let’s get back to the main issue, however: not being able to call 101 is this the only problem now? SMS is not giving issues anymore?

For 101 issues, I think it would be good if we could pull in some other iodé UK users with various devices to see if anyone else faces the issue (ideally someone with a Samsung S10 series device too with 4G only).

Once you confirm we are now only dealing with 101 issue then I can try to “@” in some others that may be able to check things.
